Sullivan’s Island

Learn More About Sullivan's Island

Historic Sullivan’s Island is home to miles of peaceful, natural beaches — perfect for a morning or evening stroll any time of the year or an all-out ocean-sand-and-sun outing in the summer. Incorporated in the early 19th century, the island remains largely undeveloped when compared to other Charleston-area beaches. With several historic districts, a large conservation easement and a national park, the area attracts a fair share of tourists but is also home to a tight-knit full-time residential community. With no hotels and only a handful of vacation rentals, Sullivan’s Island features a mix of beach-house real estate built from the 1830s to 2000s. It is just five minutes from the amenities of Mt. Pleasant and a 15-minute drive from downtown Charleston.
