Platted between the 1780’s and early 1800’s, the downtown Charleston neighborhood of Radcliffborough is bounded by Rutledge Avenue and Morris, Calhoun and King Streets. It is anchored by Marion Square, the Medical University and the College of Charleston.

Besides modern student housing complexes, parking garages and classroom buildings, the area is home to traditional single-family residences constructed in the early 19th century by merchants, tradesmen and free African Americans. Mixed in with the historic homes are several pockets of newer houses built in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s and apartments constructed around the 1970’s to 1980’s. Radcliffborough is also home to a handful of historic churches and plenty of eateries.
